Building the Socialism Map and a QUESTION Unread post

When I started building the Socialism map in RT2, I had to first figure out how Socialism could be applied to a RT2 map and what criteria was possible in the game.

Some of the factors involved:

Should government employees pay income tax. The answer is no.
Each time these government people cycle tax money back to the government, expenses are deducted and the different has to be made up by people who are not government employees.
So just reduce their pay by the taxes they owe and save on expenses.

Not sure I was able to relate this very well in the map.

If government grows larger as it seems, to alway do under socialism, the problem again becomes more of a tax burden on non government employees as the county gains debt at a high rate. Same result either way, I guess. The non-government employee will have to pay with increased taxes of some type.

The early tycoons manipulated the market and were often ruthless in their dealings.

SO: to start, I modified the bond rate so it could be manipulated and in some cases make money by issuing a bond and paying less or no interest, even making money on negative interest. In other words, it is a stimulus package for a tycoon to increasing his debt load at little or no cost to him.

Since a socialist government will control at least part of industry, (needed to take from the rich and give to the poor) commodity prices were manipulated. SO: I changed a few commodity prices, so a tycoon can place his attention on the highest profit gains and let low value cargos be hauled by the poor AI companies he controlled, even run AI trains on his track to give him extra profit with very little cost to his RR. (This was normally a historical practice for the tycoons and we still have tycoons doing this today)

I found the map fun, playing the role of a Socialist Tycoon.


I am planning to make a few more changes to the map.
I will shorten the date time line for a faster game, make the win events easier and make a few other minor changes.

QUESTION does anyone else have any other ideas that I could add to the map to make it as socialistic as possible?
