Just curious...
I'm 23, but I hardly listen to bands that are younger than me...just love the 70's and it's style (also Blues from earlier than than)...Rock 'n' Roll, Blues-Rock, Boogie Rock...STATUS QUO, AC/DC, ZZ Top, CCR, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Rory Gallagher...also Deep purple, Lynyrd Skynyrd and the likes...

My choice of music is also the old classic rock. The Eagles is my all time top favorite and my wife loves CCR.

I'm locked into the oldies. I will say I just rediscovered Alvin Lee on u-tube. He was with Ten Years After. 'I'm going Home" at Woodstock. And others. His video with Lesli West doing 'Whole lotta Shaking' is awesome. Bachman Turner Overdrive. George Thorogood. Canned Heat. I found myself checking out videos of Chuck Berry. Unplugged the headset and cranked the volume. One of the kids called and wanted to know what that noise was. Their Mom told them that their Dad was pretending he was 18 again.

doh! completely forgot about them 2...seen TYA (without Alvin Lee, but with Joe Gooch) 4 times and Canned Heat 3 times (all 3 times with the Woodstock lineup (well, what's left from then :D ) ...Knave wrote:Ten Years After. .... Canned Heat.
I'm about to see ZZ Top in 2 weeks in Vienna :)
I'm not sure if anyone here knows another favourite band of mine, Status Quo, because they never made it big in the States...their biggest hit was their first in 1968 with Pictures of Matchstick Men http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j1cJFIGHkJA (started with that psychidelic stuff, but then changed to bluesrock and boogie rock, also hard rock, just like Canned Heat, Thorogood, ZZ Top, Skynyrd and 70's AC/DC...but they're still going strong all the way, I think the last year when they didn't tour was 1985 ...had more hitsingles than the Stones of the Beatles in England I think
and 4 years later in 1972: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jvpbpobj9pk
4500 Times (2005): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2kiYAIM4N_A
1996 with the Beach Boys: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cwzWNziYZmU
1990 Whatever you want, one of their best known songs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=krK7Q49o6uA
oh, and in 1985 they opened Live Aid with Rocking all over the World (which is a cover of John Fogerty, but his version never was a hit) - remains as one of the best known songs by SQ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2kiYAIM4N_A

also, one of my recent finds is Whorehouse Blues by Motörhead...you'd never expect them to sound like this...earthy acoustic blues

Re: anyone into old school Rock 'n' Roll?!
I grew up listening to what is now called "Classic Rock" from Deep Purple (and all it's various off-shoots), through to the then 'modern' NWoBHM bands like Iron Maiden, Saxon and many others that didn't fit into either camp like AC/DC, Rush, Judas Priest, Meat Loaf, Marillion, Savatage, Running Wild, Metallica etc
I even started to collect live recordings of the bands, something which I still do.
Since then, while still liking all those listed above, I've also moved into progressive metal and synphonic metal - Dream Theater, Nightwish, Sonata Arctica and others although I've also developed a side line in musical theatre (go figure!)
So, i guess, in sort the answer to the original question would be YES!

Hmmm, why hasn't anyone mentioned the Rolling Stones? The Animals? Dave Clark 5? The Platters? The New Beats? Brenda Lee? Even Elvis? Jerry Lee Lewis? Bobby Venton? Little Richard... NOW, that's old Rock & Roll...
When it comes to the Blues, there's Big Joe Williams, Sonny Terry, Brownie McGee, Pine Top Perkins, Charlie Musslewhite, Delbert McClinton, James Cotton, Robert Johnson...
