Cow Catcher

[Lone Cat]

Cow Catcher is a wedge-shaped plow fixed on each end of a train JUST below the coupler (usually Locomotives or self propelled railcars). It can be either constructed by making the whole framework out of Iron/Steel bars, or 1-piece pressed steel sheet. This feature is common in American Railroad system, and elsewhere in the world. this feature does not shown up ANYWHERE in Europe however (except HST systems)

1. Why didn't European Railroads affixed cowcatchers into their locomotives and their railcars?
2. Did the british or other european train manufacturers recognise this pieces of railroad safety upgrade? European locomotive manufacturers DID fix ones onto the locomotives ordered outside Europe but not ones ordered within E.U.

Most likely because in England cows are let to roam free as much as they used to in the US.

John bull (Stephenson's Planet type locmotive) was the first locomotive to have cowcatchers and leading trucks. because roaming cows can derail the train.
I don't understand if, by 1830s british farmers still let their cows roam free and then why this feature rarely been installed in any british locomotives??
