Can we write in Sheriff Joe for president? I could really go for someone who actually gets things done and demands people take personal responsibility for their own lives.

The sad part to all this: Sheriff Joe is getting up in years. He's not going to be around forever. :-(

One like him comes along only once in a lifetime, and sometimes less than that for a town, city or county. No matter who takes over for him, even if it is a hand-picked successor, they will not have the drive and connections, much less the BALLS to do what Joe has done for our community. Most of his programs (tent city, chain gangs, green bologna, pink underwear, burial details {county-paid for graves for indigents}, stray animal control, illegal immigrant roundups), ALL will be dismantled piecemeal without Joe around to fight for them.

I think Joe needs an understudy or something. He needs to spread his knowledge and intestinal fortitude to carry on his legacy. It seems like the general sentiment on this thread is in agreement with his philosophies. There must be someone out there that can carry on after Joe leaves us. :?: Maybe even spread out to the rest of the country and straighten things out. :!:
