Thanks for posting, Redband. I've hiked well over 1,000 miles in the Canadian Rockies, and I've never seen a trail anything like that! Actually, I don't think it qualifies as a trail. In the Canadian national parks, a trail is a path that can be travelled in an upright position without use of hands at all. This Chinese ascent is what we call an alpine route; the way is clearly marked and climbing ropes and pitons are not needed, but you do have to use your hands and you are exposed to percipitous drop-offs! I can handle that for short distances, but I don't think I'll be going over to China to try this one! But perhaps the producers of
Fear Factor should be made to climb it on their vacation.
