Buy American? Unread post

While watching the Daytona 500 last weekend, a comment was made by one of the commentators that among the car models represented by the different manufacturers (Chevrolet Monte Carlo, Ford Fusion, Dodge Challenger and Toyota Camry), only the Toyota Camry was assembled in the USA! All of the other models were assembled in plants outside the US.

So if you want to "buy American" it looks like the Toyota is your car of choice!

yeah weird,

i would try to avoid buying an 'american' car at all costs,
US cars are like the worst efficient in the world,
The US really needs to improve its minimum miles/galleon efficiency thing,
if it wants more people to buy US cars.

Not all 'American cars are that bad. My little old 2000 Grand am gets 20/30 or so. Not great compared to European or Asian cars, but when your neighbor drives a Hummer that needs to stop every other block, its great.

My 2000 Chevrolet Monte Carlo gets 29 in town and well over 30 on the highway. I like it fine... :D
