I thought this would be a nice picture to wish everyone a wonderful Holiday Season with. This is engine No. 40 all dressed up for Christmas hauling a coal train in a snow storm back in 2004. I had my flannel underwear on that day I'll tell you.

So is this the train that hauls all the lumps of coal for those on the "naughty" list?

I must have been on the naughty list because if you look at the tender closely, the coal in it is covered with snow. Of course I was fireman that day and I had to break up the frozen coal in the tender with a pick before I could get it in the firebox.

Here is one more Christmasy shot of 40 in the station taken in December of 2005. So I guess it's okay to have a Christmas card with two pictures on it.

The station shot is very nice. I asked The Wife to come over and take a look. She saved it to pictures. I next saw it up on the screen as the desktop wall paper. I must have blinked because the next time I saw it she had centered in the middle of the screen with a white border and a red background. It now looks like a Christmas card. Thank you Sir. And Merry Christmas to all!!

I asked my grand kids why they wouldn't say Merry Christmas.
They said "its not time yet" I said "its' not time for Christmas"
They said "it is not Christmas yet. I guess in a way they were right.
But, I told them "the stores have been selling Christmas goods
for a month" They said "it is _ NOT_ Christmas until Santa comes
and he is still busy buying presents at K-mart. I said "Oh"
Ah, heck, Merry Christmas.

My first thought was the train was on its way to a Steel Mill or an Electric Plant, but maybe I've been playing the game too long?

That really is beautiful - and the name of the station is just right. I hope you don't mind us messing with it, I intend to copy it to my computer as well!

Gorgeous photos! My wife loved them, too, even though she started tearing up a bit. She's from Milwaukee originally, and living out here in California, she really misses snow.

Whereas I take my father's attitude toward the stuff. He was from Milwaukee, too, but one reason he picked San Francisco to settle down in after leaving the Air Force was to get away from snow... and having to shovel it, drive through it, and scrape it off his windshield. 8)

Now there is a message to give us all "New Hope." Merry Christmas everyone. :-D
