US Army Troop Train in 1943

Unread post by Lone Cat »

Who owned these locomotives? this one seems to be the 4-6-2 Pacific but it is too powerful to be it. Pacific is best for Passenger services, worst at freights. but this one can haul as many as 30 full cars of mixed consists... troops on the front, Tanks and other vehicles at the rear, without caboose! well Ignore Southern Pacific Black Daylights seen at the end please.

1. Who owns this locomotive? Armed Forces? or any RR companies (is it SOU)
2. Is 4-6-2 Pacific really THIS powerful? I think it's quite weaker than this. This detour seems to be a bit overloading. so Is there any historical accounts saying that Pacifics had been assigned to either freights or mixed or troop trains? How powerful a pacific actually is? How many fully loaded cars can a pacific haul? this film shown that the Pacific did all works without other engines coupled to help it.

Thanks. but tell me two things about this video please
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jkqp6ym7KwM

1. Tell me about steam crane seen in the embarkation scenes. what is the fuel this crane used? coal or fuel oil?
2. Name of the marching songs featured in this clip. one of these were reused in another Carl Dudley railroad films. On the Track 1948 . another is similar to clementine played in embarkation scene and including the scenes the steam crane is working.
