To my eternal surprise, this actually works... mostly.
So: Windows 7-64 *does* work on my current setup with RRT3 1.06. The only real problem is that some textures (like wheat or anything like that looked from very close zoom distance) don't behave like they should. They look coarse and ugly. But besides that, the game is stable, very playable and mostly looks good, too.
I didn't use any fix or trick to do make this happen. One thing is that I allowed the installer to install DirectX 8. Maybe it affects things, maybe not.
My computer setup is: AMD Phenom X4 955 @ 3.8 GHz, Gigabyte motherboard, 4 GB OCZ DDR3-12800 memory, Asus ATI Radeon 4890 graphics card, the latest drivers, Windows 7-64.

DirectX 8??? Maybe you meant DirectX 10?

RT 3 does try to install DX8 but if a later version of DX is installed it won't. The DX installer will see the files already installed and just quit the installation.
Some routines are set up so that the installer will let you know that your DirextX is up to date and some won't. They just silently quit.

There's something funny about my installation; I did not have to disable T&L at all on my WIndows 7-64 setup... Okay, this has the well-known graphics problem (low rez textures), but when I - a bit suicidally - turned T&L on and off in my 1.06 RRT3, the game worked ok. Just a little slower without T&L... Also, the installation didn't need any tricks with this setting or configuration file. So, I guess there is something more complex going on? I use the latest ATI Catalyst drivers.

I think there is no issue with T&L except with Nvidia Graphics cards but I don't think this has been proved conclusively.
Has anyone had to turn off T&L to get non Nvidia (ATI, Intel?) graphics cards or graphics chipsets working with Windows Vista or Windows 7?
Has anyone ever changed an Nvidia card for an ATI one in their PC with no changes other than the driver?
