Doesn't seem to work

I have installed the game twice, added the C 2 C patch, 1.05, and then the 1.06 with a restart between each addition. I get the opening screen, then it crashes. Any ideas anyone?

No error messages. I am running Vista.

Try installing it and running it and seeing if it works at all first before installing any patches. Most likely it isn't working since you are trying to run it on vista, and I'm assuming you haven't used the vista fix. I think version 1.03 and below works on vista without the "vista fix" but after that it'll crash.

And Hawk posted the link already to the vista fix as I was typing this.

I will try the patch again. If nothing else, i will go back to 1.03. It's worth a try for such a great game.

The main page opens for a second or less, then theh screen goes blank and asks if I want to close the proogram. I cannot get to the graphics box to cleck the TL box.

You might want to try reading the thread that goes along with the Vista fix:

I think I had an install at 1.03, I was able to start it and get into the settings and disable Hardware T&L. I think then I installed C2C, then swapped in the 1.05 exe and it might have worked? Then I put in that file in the "vista fix" in the folder it says to. It's been a few months and I don't remember specifically what I did as I used a little trial and error to get it working.

I downloaded 1.03 and installed it, but get an error message. I assume the disable box is only available in the 1.03 patch?

Try the 1.04 Beta exe. Tht's the exe that works best for Vista without modification...then disable the T&L in that one.

First off, I strongly recommend against putting a live email link in a forum post. That's the first place email harvesters look to get email addresses to sell to spammers.

I tried to download the patch bet a message said I could not, etc. It is working now.
I can't believe I am going through all this for a game, but I have always liked trains and had a set when I was young. This is cheaper and easier than buying a model ralroad and trying to get it all set up.

You're saying you couldn't download the rar file I posted a couple of posts up? You should be able to, as can anyone else.
Let me check the forum settings. Maybe I'm jumping the gun with assumptions.

Edit 1: I just checked the admin settings and I didn't see anything there that would stop you from downloading that rar file. Maybe it's something within Win 7 that's looking inside the rar file and seeing the exe and stopping you from downloading it.

I loaded a bunch of maps, but only some sow as options in the new scenario section. Are the rest campaigns?

If you added a map made for 1.06, it won't show up in earlier versions.
1.06 maps will only work in 1.06.

Hi, I have taken some time, reloaded my computer, verified that Patch 6 is installed, and I am still unable to get any of the download maps to work.
I use Extract Now to open them into the game and into maps and that does not seem to work. I have tried downloading the patches and opening them directly and that does not seem to work either. As an alternative, I opened the zips and manually installed the .gmp's to maps and the packs, when available, to user content in data.
I had some extra maps a few years ago and they worked beautifully, but that was on XP, not Vista.
Any ideas are welcome, and thanks,
