The most mildly annoying glitch... Unread post

Alright, here's the deal: I've recently noticed that all of my locos are having some sort of pulling power glitch. In other words, they have seemingly no notice of the cars behind them in respect to it;s speed. For example, the right now one of my H10's is going 55 and accelerating with a full train of 8 mixed cars. The info for the H10 says its speed caps at 53 with a train of 8. What's going on? It sounds nice, but I'd really like it fixed because it's mutilating the realism. Thanks guys! :salute:

check and see if there is an event that increases speed.

I'm playing West From Chicago. Regardless of events, I have a test map up that's maximum size and completely flat, and I've been comparing locomotive performance. Obviously, there are no events on this map, and the glitch is still occurring. **!!!**

The speed is also an average speed. Try it with different cargo. Some cargo weighs more than other cargo.

Are all your freight/passenger cars at 100% capacity?

Hover your mouse over all of the cars to check.

Having cars at less than full capacity can affect the speed, since you're not pulling as much weight.
The speed shown in the engine selection list is taking into consideration that all cars are at full capacity.

To add to that, I don't believe there's a whole lot of realism coded into the default engines.
There's a few posts here where members discussed modifying some of the parameters of some of the engines in an attempt to better reflect real world physics, in so far as can be done in RT3.

Actually, what I meant when I mentioned the test map was that I test in Sandbox mode, meaning all cars are 100% full. (Right?)
And on WofC, even when all cars are 10%, the locos can still go their top speed at one car. Grades still effect performance, however.

What about your track grade? ... going up hill vs down hill.

You know as glitches go this is one I wouldn't complain about since it doesn't do anything negative.
