Having trouble installing 1.06

I'm having trouble installing the 1.06 patch.
I'm getting an error code that says, and I quote, "The bonehead who coded this patch goofed up. Go yell at Milo on Hawkdawg's forum."

I'm using Windows 8 and RT3 from CD with the no CD patch installed,
and I have the coast to coast expansion and patch version 1.05

Did you install RT3 into the default directory? IE: Program Files or Program Files (86). If so, that's the problem.
As a matter of fact, the C to C (version 1.04) and the 1.05 patches most likely didn't install completely.

All three patches update the RT3.exe, which can't be done in either of the above mentioned directories due to Microsoft setting those directories as protected, starting with Vista.

If that's the case, you'll need to uninstall RT3 and reinstall it into a different directory outside of the above mentioned directories

Hi Hawk,
I already un-installed RT3 from Program Files (x86) and re-installed it on the root of C: drive so I could install Coast to Coast and 1.05
This was a month or two ago and I've been playing Coast to Coast successfully ever since.

Not sure of that error, but do you see this screen?

Try to see if it works if you uncheck the first item. This means the exe is not being patched. Instead, use the 1.06 exe from here.
