RT3: Fuel cost calculations. Unread post

This is the topic involving how RT3 calculates fuel costs.
According to many scenarios. there are numerous conditions regarding to map resources.
1. Post-war France: no Diesel locomotives available due to the fact that ... there's no Oil rig in France territory.. (but there is one in Britain). However. France; as well as western europe. is a coal-rich country and also one of the earliest nations on earth to have electricity available to public. Inspiring many nations (Including Siam).
thus only two options are available (Player has to make a choice at the beginning of a scenario. once the choice made. engines of another types will NOT becomes available throughout the game)
- Steam: Mucca cab forwards (not historically accurate! Mucca cab forward is Italian steam loco and not french one!) - Mikado-style thing (Red devil may becomes available sometimes in 60s if a player choose this option and do Andre' Chapelon quest)
- Electric: includes one available in Chanel No. 5 Ad. starring Audrey Tautou. Andre' Chapelon also have another quest for this option. with the reward of a new locomotive becomes available earlier!
2. Australia (Original RT3 scenario). Since Australia was (by 50s) a backward nation. National electricity power grid is about the same level as many nations in Indochine by then so no Electric locomotives available. However, two different fossil fuels; Coal and Oil, are (in the setting) abundances. player also have TWO options available ((Player has to make a choice at the beginning of a scenario. once the choice made. engines of another types will NOT becomes available throughout the game)
- Steam: Anything from all three different regions since 1910
- Diesel: Every diesel locomotives in game from all three different settings become available: Starting from F3 and GP7
And once player installs Coast2Coast add on.
3. Southwestern California (can't remember). silimar to Oz. but the reasons for the 'no-electric locomotive' restriction stems from 'energy crisis' thing. Player also has to make one-off choices at the beginning of the scenario. Steam or Diesel. but... all engines are of american theatres.

Do RT3 calculates fuel costs using the price of map resources?
if so
1. In case of steam locomotive: What is/are the map resources that its price counts towards fuel costs? since real life steamers burn either wood, coal, or even petroleum!
- Coal
- Oil
and in case of both of the resources are feeding steamers. will the engine calculates the fuel price from ones with the lower prices than each other?
2. about Diesel. Does the fuel prices also varies with both oil and diesel prices? as in real life.

Lone Cat: The fuel costs are based on the train engine itself, not the resources on the map nor the prices of the resources. Some trains have much lower fuel costs than others, however the fuel economy of a specific train engine does not change based on how much oil &/or coal is on the map, nor how much the resources cost. For example, a Planet 2-2-0 will have an 'atrocious' fuel economy and a Class P-8 will have an 'above average' fuel economy on any game map for the entire length of the game.

That said, a game creator can force a change to the fuel economy as part of a game story. Any change made through the game code by a game creator, whether improving or reducing the fuel economy, will affect ALL trains on the map, not just single engines. So, it is possible for a game creator to raise or lower the fuel economy of all trains based on how much oil &/or coal is on the map. I don't think it is possible to force a change to the fuel economy based on the prices of oil &/or coal.

I cannot recall any games I've played in which a game author forced the fuel economy to change in response to the amount of coal &/or oil resources available on a map.
