I installed the mapmaker and went to make a map and it would not make a map.
I tried different sizes. Still no luck
It uses 32 bits and my computer runs on 64 bits.
Is that my problem?
If so, I will move to the old computer.
MapMaker help
Re: MapMaker help
Mapmaker worked on Vista. What kind of error did you get? Or did you even get an error?
Re: MapMaker help
No errors. I just got the message that the gray scale maps were not loading into the game file.
I installed the map maker on the old computer and it worked without a problem.
Not sure what caused the problem on the XP machine, except the XP is 64 bit and the old machine is 32 bit.
It might even be a glitch in the install of mapmaker on the XP.
Thanks for the reply.

Re: MapMaker help
Yeah try a fresh install. The only thing I can think of is that perhaps Vista is not allowing the file to be saved right. Vista has hidden RT maps from me so bad that they won't even show up with "show hidden files" checked. It does WEIRD things.
If you can open the file with a regular piece of graphic editing software try resaving it in the right file format.
Honestly though, the mapmaker included is really weak, it's good if you have no graphic software editing skills, but if you really want to have fun look into some graphic editors.

Re: MapMaker help
Tga "grey scale" (actually shades of blue) must be saved as certain configuration so that the game could read those. Off course I can't remember what is the configuration....
Re: MapMaker help
Uncompressed, I remember that much.
Re: MapMaker help
All the RT3 reference guide says is to save it in tga format. Nothing about uncompressed, 24 bit or anything.
As stated, they weren't very informative in their help topics.

Re: MapMaker help
There is a box, if checked will set the correct configuration automatically.
Once installed I don't believe it is compressed.
The ME machine running on 32 bits loads and runs Mapbuilder with out a problem.
The XP machine running on 64 bits will not except the map from the map builder.
I have never put the mapbuilder on the XP machine before. I always used the ME machine.
