Can't get started, help please

Hi All

Firstly thanks for such a great site, heaps of cool stuff and lots of helpful information.

I have downloaded TM and installed it ona clean RT3 file patched up to 1.05. I have followed Hawk and Nedfumpkins instructions to the letter and installed the TM campaigns up to campaign 2.

After clicking on the TM desktop icon I see the TM start page and I can select a campaign. I have tried 3 times to load the campaign, the movie comes on, and the grpahic come up saying loading etc. Then I get the winows error message "Trainmaster has stopped working, window is checking for a solution"

I am running Windows 7 Home Premium and running TM as administrator.

Have I missed something?

I am hanging out to go railroading on TM. help please.

I suppose I should ask did you try playing a scenario and seeing if TM loads properly? It may be possible one of the campaign files didn't install correctly. I would download a TM scenario and attempt to play that and see if you still get an error message or not. That may narrow it down as to what's wrong.

I have been unable to play a scenario. The windows error comes up whne I am trying to load the secnario.

I have tried loading a different scenario, but I get the same error message.

Try deleting the Rt3.exe file and then manually extracting it from the zip. Windows sometimes won't overwrite and exe file, but doesn't tell you that it didn't.

That should work, but if not, I'll try to think of something else it could be.

Hi Nedfumpkin, I deleted the exe file and unzipped it to the TM game file, but still no luck getting the scenarion to load. Any other suggestions please?

Are you getting any other error messages? Like that you are missing a file or so?

Have you tried to load a TM map in editor?

All maps have to be TM maps in order to work.

Success! I deleted the installed TM file and did another install from a clean 1.06RT3 file.

I am now spending many happy hours railroading.

1.06 could cause you problems. TM only needs to be installed up to 1.04 or 1.05 to work...but since it is working...just keep in mind that if you get an error message, it helps if I know theprecise message to trouble shoot.

It appears that you haven't installed your default express cars set.
