Monitor problem

Unread post by Gwizz »

Monitor problem.

My newest monitor is a flat screen 24 by 14 in wide screen. It has a problem. It starts up and loads the icons as window or Firefox loads. When loading is finished the montor goes black. I can turn only the monitor off and then back on, the screen comes on normally for about 5 seconds then goes black.

I tried the montor on my old gateway computer and the same thing happens.

I still had my old 14" by 10" CRT monitor so it is now in use.

I have downloaded the new monitor's driver from HP, and installed it, but have been too busy to reinstall the flat screen on the computer.
It doesn't make sense that I would lose the driver on both computers.

When I have more time to again try the new driver, if it still doesn't work I will start looking for cold solder connections.

My oldest Computer and Monitor is an NEC . It is still working after nearly 20 years and has been bullet proof. I still have 5.25 and 3.5 floppies for it. My wife uses it or the Gateway for gaming occationally.

I'm open to suggestions.
