Okay. So the sleek part was reaching on my part. Its not like I can jump in the truck and pop over for a in person peek.

Although I don't play the games you build for, I do enjoy seeing what you have done. I am looking forward to what you produce in the future. To do good work it takes good tools. I hope you have the monitor that will allow you to get back to work. And soon.

Thanks again, Knave. Matter of fact I've just released a cool little 1913 Model T Ford motor car and, am working on an 1865 stock car, as we speak.
Jump to the MSTS stuff and I'll post some pix for ya.

Re: HELP!!! My PC is crashing. Unread post

Update on this new Samsung monitor.
My eyes are burning and aching and it's giving me headaches to boot. I've developed floaters in my eyes all within a week's testing of this thing.
I can't sit behind a 60Hz screen for any length of time, and I mean any longer then 10 minutes. I have to use 85Hz so, this thing is going back within my two week money back gaurantee period.

Question now is, does anybody know of a monitor that'll support better then 60Hz??? I can't find one...

Thanks,

I guess you'll have to try and find a CRT monitor at a yard sale or something.

Have you tried Craig's List for your area?

Re: HELP!!! My PC is crashing. Unread post

I put 85Hz lcd monitor in my search and went looking. The first half of the page was really old stuff. Then I found a link to a ASUS VW 266 H. I then went to Newegg and they have this in stock. While I was at Newegg and at the product discription page I hit details to check the specs as listed there. I did not see anything so I hit the Manufactures product page and there it was. 85Hz.

I am not sure if this helps you except to show there is something out there. I checked a few of the other monitors. ASUS monitors operate all over the Hz spectrum. The one I mentioned is the only one I found that hits 85Hz. I did not check them all.

Good Luck!

No, am not familiar with it, Ed. Looks a little wishy washy. Not very professional looking but I did find a couple monitors.

This thing is killing me!

Thanks, Knave. Unfortunately, NewEgg and I don't see eye to eye. They won't accept cash and I don't own a credit card. I've tried a couple times over the past few years.
It's nice to know that there is a monitor out there, though.
I'll check into ASUS...

It's actually a pretty decent place to find what you're looking for, or in my case, to try and sell something.
It just looks wishy-washy because it's free to advertise and/or buy from it.
I bought things from people that advertise on it before and haven't had any problems.

Hi guys,
I just placed a bid of $150 to that guy selling those NEC CRTs. Gotta wait to see if he'll accept it, now. {,0,}
He wants about $84 to ship it. !*00*! Looks as though it's coming from Calif.

This thing I'm using now has gotta go back. My eyes are killing me. !hairpull!

We'll see,

I was under the impression that refresh rate doesn't matter on lcd's because the image is created in a different way. I'm on my second flat monitor and have been running both with 60Hz, no prob. Maybe your eyes take issue with the LED technology? Mine are TFT's so I have no experience on that... **!!!**

Most humans don't notice it. I had to run my CRT at 85hz because I'm one of the few that do.
That is very possible, also. I do know my eyes are killing me.

I had my CRT on 85 too, couldn't bear the flickering on 60.

Re: HELP!!! My PC is crashing. Unread post

'Nother update. I turned that LED eye burner back in yesterday and picked up a little 20" Asus to get me by for now. I've been told, by more then one, Asus specifically designs their monitors for gaming so I thought I'd try one. (I love these money back guarantees. Wally World has a 90 day while Best Buy has a 14 day.)

The guy selling the CRTs refused my $150 offer but, the few that he has left aren't selling as fast as I thought they would. Maybe next month I'll try again with a little better offer.

I feel relief in my eyes just within the past 24 hours. !*th_up*!

Re: HELP!!! My PC is crashing. Unread post

I'm afraid so. If nothing else, it'll make a good spare. I'll make another attempt at that 22" later in a month or two.
Only issues I may have is that it only has a Dsub connector and not a DVI also.

What's the advantages of the two, btw? Does anybody know?

Re: HELP!!! My PC is crashing. Unread post

D-Sub carries analogue signal and DVI-D carries digital signal, which makes for superior image quality. Obviously, if the monitor only has an analogue input, using DVI in the display adapter side won't improve the quality.

edit: Hm, I'm not sure if there are any CRT's accepting a digital signal...

Yes, there were, right at the end when CRTs were fading out and LCDs were becoming popular but, only a very few. (I did check into this and they were very expensive, btw.)
