RRT3 On Win 7... Working... Slightly

Unread post by omegas »

Hello Fellow Railroaders.

I've recently taken out my dual CD copy of RRT3 and tried to get it working under Win7 Home Premium (64). (This is NOT through STEAM). After trying EVERY solution I've been able to find thus far and literally trying EVERY combination of compatibility mode, Run as admin, "Move the install folder out of the Program Files (or (86) folder). I am only able to view videos and mess with the settings in game. I cannot actually start new game/tutorial. It gets to the loading Buildings database (2-3 secs into the loading) then crashes. I've installed, re-installed, patched, un-patched, re-patched, this game using Coast to Coast and 1.05 and I just don't get the malfunction wrong. This is a Win7 intel Dual core, with an NVidia GForce 8XXX GS video card. I can't think of any reason why I can't play the game. If anyone has run into a similar problem where the game Starts up just fine but you can't actually load ANY maps or actually PLAY the game please... I'm all ears. I have no other content loaded other than Coast to Coast and 1.05 patch.

Below for Everyone's amusement is the Win 7 "Crash" report details when the executable fails.

Don't know what I did differently in that last install... but has anyone one ever told you you're a god! Worked like a charm. Thanks a bunch!
