Re: Some basic questions........

There is another way to show city to city connection in the status. I knew that I had seen it a game that I had played long ago and it took some searching to find it. It is in Orient Express, a campaign game. A screenshot is shown below: C2C.JPG C2C2.JPG The status will show 'Incomplete' when game ...

Re: Gilligan's Isle - Beta

I probably won't get a chance to play this for a day or two, but I did load it up in the game and so far I like what I see. I could hear the melody in my head as I was reading the briefing. ^**lylgh my 55 year old dad talks about that show. lol. i might want to watch it sometime, being the new gene...

Re: Railway of Fame!

What's the point of doing that? Why not just allow people to build industry if they want to? You already have the connection and haulage requirements, so it's not like they can ignore building a railroad. They have to do that anyway. If you want to make it stricter, set the connection goals to be g...

Re: Railway of Fame!

that's my point - i want it up here, NOT there anymore. lol. anyway, i'm going to make some MAJIOR changes today, including adding in the UP railroad in the map, (CP is not in it, because Sacramento is the city you will start in, or San Fransico) some ideas for the "minigoals" which if yo...

Also, if you click on the link that says View Unread Posts, it will list the topics that have unread posts in them since your last visit. Then clicking on the topic title will take you to the newest unread post in that topic. Knowing how to use the forum will help you and others find the new posts ...

that's my point - i want it up here, NOT there anymore. lol. You got it. The other thread is gone, as will be this one if you start a new one on this same map, and I really don't want to have to keep deleting threads just because you made some changes to a map. It's a bit irritating to me. lol, thi...

Re: Railway of Fame!

You don't have to start a new topic every time you want to make a post noticeable. That's what the New Post icons do. They let people know that there is a new post in that topic. This is the same map with the exception of adding a status event, and possibly some other changes. You can't start a new...

Isn't this the same map as in the thread you started here? http://hawkdawg.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=3273 Why start another thread on the same map? Why not just continue in the existing thread. You really should state that your map(s) are for 1.06. no, it has some updates, and i don't wan...

Railway of Fame!

I have recently finished the seeding of the "Southwest" map in the base maps - and i'm making a full scale map with it! the story of the land is below - note: don't think it's going to be easy because of all the goods - it's going to be one of the hardest maps you will ever do! "Welco...

Just wanted to voice my appreciation that you are making maps for this game! Haven't looked at it yet, as I am not going to get to test-drive it anytime soon; but just wanted to leave a note of encouragement. yea. i'm working on a new map; it's called "railway of fame". it's a overall har...

Re: Why do people start with industries?

If you want to try something dfferent, start in Watertown. ;-) Since you are aiming to connect Oshawa anyway, starting with a station over towards Canada can work quite well. I'm quite taken with the idea of rerwriting some of the standard games to be more suitable and interesting for expert player...

Re: Why do people start with industries?

  Ok, so is it "done" and are you going to prove me wrong, or is it that you'll only get some of the requirements but not all of them? Reason I mentioned those requirements is because that was the result I got yesterday, without trying too hard. I was just playing along for ...

Done! i'll save it every year until one year i get all those requirements! i'll prove you wrong! i win on expert on that map within 6 years - it'll just be more dificult! (it'll be the same 1856 or whatever deadline, right?) after winning it, i will send you the saved game. (only one edit to the ga...

Re: Why do people start with industries?

ok, proof! you try to win "go west" in four years with spending starting cach on industries! (level: easy) then save the game and zip it. i will do the same with rails. good luck doing it in 8 years. my record (without any industries) is 3 years. only thing i have to do is draw tons of bo...

Re: Making a RT3 map from hights - southwest USA basemap

Way too many Munititions Factories, Textile Mills, Steel Mills, Meat Processing Plants and Wool Farms. Oil wasn't big business in Texas until the turn of the century (1900 or so). I ran several seedings, and in one, there were at least 15-20 Produce Farms in the Calif. Central Valley, along with 10...

Re: Making a RT3 map from hights - southwest USA basemap

. . . It takes experience to balance a map and have it seed the way you want it to throughout the game. It's trial and error for the most part. yea. i have spent the good part of the last week or so doing it. Mines and logging camps okay, but everything else should be by placement or event in my op...
