Re: Please--Step by Step Installation to 1.06 on Windows 7 Pro
Okay, I deleted everything that I had related to RT3 except my fully functioning 1.05 version. I ran this to verify that everything was still okay and it worked fine. I then created a new empty folder in my c drive, renamed it simply "Railroad Tycoon". I moved my functioning Railroad Tycoo...

Re: Please--Step by Step Installation to 1.06 on Windows 7 Pro
I copied the entire RT3 folder and pasted it into the desktop. Then I changed the name of the folder to Railroad Tycoon 3 106. I downloaded the1.06 patch, but it didn't give me the choice to unzip like the other patches. Instead, It's sitting in my download folder titled "rt_1.06.zip" with...

Re: Please--Step by Step Installation to 1.06 on Windows 7 Pro
Okay, got archival approval. Tried to patch 1.06 to created folder Railroad Tycoon 3 106 (a copy of the Railroad Tycoon 3 folder in version 1.05)
Won't let me patch. Says "Unable to open RT3.exe for patching".
Any Suggestions?
Ron

Re: Please--Step by Step Installation to 1.06 on Windows 7 Pro
THANK YOU!!! Followed the clear instructions and am now patched up to 1.05. Also created two additional folders for 1.06 and Trainmaster as suggested, but can't download these yet as the archives would not accept my forum username and password so I re-registered in archives and am waiting for the ad...

Please--Step by Step Installation to 1.06 on Windows 7 Pro
Hello I used to play RT3 a lot on my old computer and finally got around to trying to install it on my current computer. I am running Windows 7 Professional and the installation of RT3 is from my original CD disc. However, I can't seem to get anything to work other than version 1.00 despite trying v...

Editing/altering game in progress
This is truly embarrassing. I haven't played the game in a long time and have forgotten how to turn on the editor that allows you to change the settings for a game in progress. I don't mean the original editor, but the one that will let me pause a current game and turn on the thing that lets me do s...

Thanks, guys. I will try to combine the suggestions. The reason I wanted this is that I would like to use some of the existant maps to create scenarios that have political/historical events that create different states and therefore different RR's. For example, using the Indian Colonial Map but sett...

Can this be done, and if so, how?
Can anyone think of a way that this can be done by created event? What I would like to do is when a certain time in the game is reached, all track, trains, etc., that are at that time located in a certain territory be confiscated from the company that owns them and assigned to a totally new company ...

If anyone has the time and ability, it would be really nice if someone would create a logo that consists of a plain red star. This has obvious uses in a number of different scenarios where railways nationalized under communist/socialist governments exist or existed. Shouldn't be too difficult to do....

Logo/Portraits/Scenario Question
I recently downloaded the Trans-Siberian from the Map Index page, and put the Pk4 files in User Extra Content where they are supposed to go. But there appears to be some sort of problem. When I load in the Trans-Siberian game, the four railroad logos appear assigned to the companies where they are s...

Missing Loco Skin Options
I have installed most of the various xtra content loco skins available, such as the two different F3 packs, the 4 Northerns, etc, putting the Pk4 files in user extra content. However, when I get into a game and the loco appears, the little toggle arrows only give me two options---the original locomo...

Numerical limits
I have been told that the maximum amount of logos you can have is 100. Are there limits (a maximum number) on any of the following: 1. Number of locomotive types 2. Number of portraits for players 3. Number of building types Also, if one adds additional skins for locomotives, is their a toggle optio...

BWT This is just a personal observation, but I think that RRT3 is oriented towards local traffic. In my games, the passengers are not interested in to travel distant cities. (Even if large) One thing I have done to take advantage of this characteristic of local traffic orientation is to create an o...

Warehouses do work this way currently, but they have two problems: first, the player cannot build them, and even then they are limited to predetermined scenario formulas for what they demand. You can build any kind of warehouse you want anywhere you want from the editor, with any cargoes you want. ...

Logo paks question
I just downloaded all the various logo packs on the Xtras page and burnt them on to a CD. However, I know I just want to use some, not all of them and only want to install those that I will use. Question is this: do all the logos that I pick get installed into the User Extra Content File, or does it...

Stock related issues
The answer to this is probably "no", but I thought I'd ask anyway. Is there any way to alter the program to allow the railroad company itself, not the owner/operator, to buy stocks in other railroad companies, just as the company can buy industries? This would be very prototypical, but I f...

Re: New building brainstorm
What is the benefit of this? Often I find a region with a lot of, say, coal mines, all where the price of coal is $0. There is no way for me to collect that coal with one train, for profitable delivery by a later train, and if I don't have a station in the right place, all those extra coal loads wi...
