Re: Age Of Steam V-Pheonix Rising For Your Review

Oh you sneaky sneaky devil {,0,} You are certainly a master at scenario design. I thought I had it, gold on expert with 5 AI and I had all the haulage down pat, leading in the net profit stakes, gold was mine !! and then corn went sky high and the AI had all the corn farms and in one year they add 1...

Re: Age Of Steam V-Pheonix Rising For Your Review

Thank you so much for the revision, the game is still beating me up but at least it makes sense now. I did manage a silver against the AI but I was concentrating almost solely on rails so even though I ended up with net profits of 464 Mill I was 400 Mill behind the winning AI. So much for my cunning...

Re: Monitor problem solved --- hope this is helpful

Welcome Larry, I joined just a few weeks ago and have been having enormous fun ever since. There are new scenarios still being written, with new trains, new buildings and new cargoes. It's almost like these guys decided to write RRT4 themselves instead of waiting for PopTop, but the best part of all...

Re: Age Of Steam V-Pheonix Rising For Your Review

Ok this is the answer that Hawk sent on the W & P scenario thread to someone who was having similar problems, they followed the instructions and it solved the save problem. Installing the patch: 1. If you have Bombardiere's Loco Pack installed, uninstall it now. 2. If you have the Unofficial 1.0...

Re: Age Of Steam V-Pheonix Rising For Your Review

I'm more at a loss than anyone - I've given it 3 tries and at the end of year 1 the scenario crashes every time. Obviously not happened to anyone else so (after Whit or whatever this Bank Holiday is) I'll re download and see if it works then. This scenario requires the 1.06 patch, I read in another...

Re: Age Of Steam V-Pheonix Rising For Your Review

My problem is that like any member of the general public I am at a loss trying to figure out how the taxes are calculated. I have been playing on expert against 5 AI and it doesn't seem to matter which approach I take the taxes are just insane. When I mixed rail and Industry with industry income at ...

Re: Age Of Steam V-Pheonix Rising For Your Review

On my last try I didn't build any industry at all and I was hit with taxes of 1mill and then 1.5mill and this happened half way through my change over to steam, I was making money but the taxes were putting me in the red. So back to the mix of rail and industry, but how to minimise the tax hit thats...

Re: Age Of Steam V-Pheonix Rising For Your Review

Well I took the bait wsherrick and now I am playing against 5 AI and you weren't kidding when you said they were tough. I have restarted 3 times and the taxes are killing me, This last try I only built rail and stations no hotels or industry and I just got hit by 1.5mill taxes this is on misc income...

Re: Age Of Steam V-Pheonix Rising For Your Review

I really enjoyed this scenario. I did enjoy the rail and speed restrictions it made for an interesting change. I bow my head to you Mr Sherrick I was only able to manage a silver but let me tell you I am just itching to get back in there ,I have a couple of things to try and I am going for gold. Now...

If you could name a few you did better than me by the time I thought I recognised someone they were someone else.

Re: This is simply amazing.

That is so neat, my only problem is that before I could think of the names it had morphed into another one and so it felt as though I had a memory stutter. As you say, its amazing what some people can do with computers.

Re: The Zany World of Baffania

I played this yesterday and got zonked on the requirements for the last territory, of course I had stopped expanding some time before and didn't bother to save. So tonight I bought industry and I built track and merged companies boosted dividends and hit gold in plenty of time way before those darn ...

Re: Big Valley For Your Review

I am really enjoying these age of steam scenarios and the history and railroading tips were particularly good in this one. I must say that the skills for driving driving a steam train are far greater than I realised. I take my hat off to you . I had a good time with this one, I tried going from Arka...

Re: Review Of Age Of Steam II-Green Diamond

My but you make tricky scenarios Mr Sherrick. I didn't read this review thread until now, which is after I have played the scenario. I know I should have checked first but I enjoyed A.O.S. so much I couldn't wait to play this one. I had two false starts and quickly figured out that you were delibera...

Re: Age of Steam

I played this yesterday and had a great time, partly because of my increasing knowledge of steam thanks to Mr wsherrick and his reading primer for steam. So I was doubly interested in playing. I am a player who usually uses industry quite intensively, but I made gold just running rail. Thats not str...

I played it today too with a different approach, I sold my stock then built track Chicago- Milwaukee -Madison bought 2 stirlings then stopped the trains for 3 years bought up all the stock and restarted the trains and expanded as the money came in, i built single track only, with train routes of 2 or...

I also voted for the combination of all of them, I prefer to build railroads but I find frequently that building up an industrial base is the only way to achieve the goals, and of course I have to control my company so I don't get booted out , but to tell the truth I like the game, so no matter whic...
