Re: The Port of Newcastle

Data problem: unable to find building type 'vineyard' . Are there some additional files we need to run it? Nah, this can't possibly hint that you'd need additional files ... where'd you get that from? :-P  Sorry, forgot to mention that it needs (as per the error message) the building type 'vin...

Re: The Port of Newcastle

Okay, here's Version 3. It's not perfect ... in fact, probably far from it. There are several bugs I've been unable to solve and I can't see how or why they're happening. For me, the newspaper announcing the opening of the Steel Mill happened in 1911 when the event specifically says 1915. The ports ...

Nope, but if someone wishes to play through I don't want it to remain there forever, when in reality it's not :P Just a bit of accuracy :-)

Re: The Port of Newcastle

I'm going to do a bigger post later (thanks for the review, moblet, I'm currently working on a version 3). Just a quick question: I'm going to include the building and decommission of the Newcastle steel works (1915 and 1999 respectively) ... I've added an event to build the steel mill in 1915, but ...

Re: The Port of Newcastle

Okay, this is version two, with some additional tasks and a few random events thrown in. I haven't given this one an extensive test, although I have run it through twice. Let me know of any futher issues :-)

Re: The Port of Newcastle

I very much appreciate the time and effort you guys have put in to give me some feedback :) I can't really test the Chile scenario because I'm running 1.00 on Vista :( low_grade, I've sorted out all those petty little things you've mentioned and am in the process of creating a few events. I'm thinki...

Re: Mapping resources

Not sure if it could be of direct use for making maps, but NASA has just released a "new digital topographic map of Earth that covers more of our planet than ever before".

Re: The Port of Newcastle

An update: I've decided to up the gold passenger quota to 1500 and double the coal quota to 400.

Also, why is the company name not showing up on my newspapers? Am I doing something wrong there?

The Port of Newcastle

I finished my Newcastle & Port Stephens map the other day and I thought I'd give myself the challenge of writing my first scenario. It's quite a bit simpler than others I have seen, but I'm quite proud of it. The challenge is to expand a railway from Newcastle to key cities in the surrounding re...

Re: Newcastle & Port Stephens

Okay, I've finally finished, and I think there's a good representation of the population with my cities going on. Now that I've got my map done and cities in place, I've started to think about scenarios ... I don't know much about making them at all. I've been fiddling around with it about and have ...

Re: Newcastle & Port Stephens

Thanks for all the feedback and advice, guys - you're all awesome. I tried using Map Builder but as it's mentioned above it's not all that helpful for very local maps like this one. From memory, photographs and the very few and very simple topographic maps I did find I have gathered that the area I'...

Re: Features I'd like to see...

I would really like to see support for more than one platform and also perhaps quadruple track. Another feature I would also like is the ability to choose which tracks go one way, which go the other, and tracks that run both ways.

Newcastle & Port Stephens

I think this is the right topic. Well, I did create a map, and this is the 'Map Creation' forum ... I've spent the better part of this afternoon working on my very first proper map. I've mucked around before with little details but have never created a full map before ... but having said that it's n...

Re: A Cup of Tea, Anyone?

I looked through your pictures for a train's page. I found 9 trains or train related pictures in different places. I bet you have more. How many shots do you take compared to the number you have in your gallery? Hehehe, I have a lot more, but I tend to upload only the best. I might make use of my F...

Re: Straight track vs careful grading

I usually carefully grade, too ... but I think it counts on a lot of factors: the engine, the difference in grades, the distance, the cargo. I'm sticking to careful grading for now (it looks more pro). :-)
