Re: College degrees not important
I'm curious, why exactly would a reasonable person (as a CEO they very likely hold at least an MBA (Masters in Business Administration), possibly a doctorate, think that a Bachelor's degree is over-education? Education cannot do harm, unless the institution's intent is to deny society something that...

Re: Hidden Agenda
Ned, could you please point me to a source confirming the XXII amendment was repealed? I haven't found any, yet I have one, Cornell Law, that says it's still in effect. http://www.law.cornell.edu/constitution/constitution.amendmentxxii.html The only thing I've found is a bill in the House to repeal ...

Re: Passenger loading in Japan
Nah no pickpockets. It's kind of hard to reach into someone's wallet when you can't move your hand more than a fraction of an inch.
Glad I don't live in Japan, would not want to have to deal with that much overcrowding.

Re: Extolling the virtues of Vista.
No, the problem is with Vista itself. Many, many programs, both recent and older, do not work with vista, regardless of which version you have or which hardware you have. IIRC, it has something to do with Vista's software environment.

Well, I dunno about Texas or Ohio, but crossover voting is in no way illegal in New Jersey. As a registered independent, I could have voted in either the republican or democratic primaries a few weeks ago, and then would have been affiliated with the party in which I participated. However, I can, at...

Re: Costs! how much?
Personally, I have a problem with statement 5. First statement 5... Children born in America, weather born to legal or illegal residents, are, per the Constitution, US Citizens, and as such, are guaranteed public education. Also, because of the children's citizenship, at least one parent, usually th...

Re: Numbers
AZ, no, the numpad keys and the numbers above the keyboard do not give the same input codes. For things with configurable inputs, the asterisk above the letters will be "shift + 8," while the asterisk above the number pad will show as "NUMPAD*." As for what it means... I don't re...

Asterisks are just above the 9 key on the number pad, on US QWERTY keyboards, anyway.

Gwizz, the lights in question aren't neon lights though. Modern fluorescent lights emit light by exciting the phosphorus that coats it's interior surface with electrons. Fluorescent bulbs don't pulse like neon lights, and they also contain very little mercury. However, I do agree, fluorescent bulbs ...

Gwizz, there actually is a way to measure temperature from the past. Scientists drill samples of ice from Antarctica and from measuring the proportions of gasses than can determine an approximate temperature. It works because the amount of gas that get dissolved in a liquid is based partly on pressu...

My favorite was the article that said the earth might have a nuclear meltdown because the surface can't radiate enough heat.

Gwizz, the DoI was never passed by vote of Congress nor was it signed by a sitting president or vetoed and then the veto overridden by 3/5 majority of Congress. Valid laws must first pass both houses of Congress and must be signed by the President. The DoI was signed before the United States was a c...

Even if the government didn't force them to get their shots, most would have to eventually anyway. Most colleges and universities require students to have all major shots before they are allowed to attend class. With anywhere between 2,000 and 50,000 people living in such close proximity, not having...

Upon reading the FDA's article, no Thimerosal is not banned, but it might as well be. From the article you linked, vaccines for children 6 or younger contain less than 1ug (microgram) of mercury, or 1E-6 grams (0.000001g) Vaccines for older children and adults may contain up to 25ug of mercury per d...
