Re: Over the Carpathes

Two weeks since the last comment in this thread (unusual rate of revisions, but it's perfectly ok)... here is a revised version. changelog: - eligible cities for cargo accounting have their names written in capitals now - AI are curbed and will not expand as much - historical events added (recogniza...

Re: Over the Carpathes

:-o Hi guys, I've been online for about 10 mins... Just the time to go into the editor and trying some techniques to make certain cities stand out and also to check with a previous save of mine if double tracking around Pest could be the issue for those crashes. Found out double tracking in Pest may...

Re: Over the Carpathes

So, I've been testing this as well, but with limited time. Anyway, three tries into it, and I noticed a number of things to be sorted, plus improvements still necessary. - those newspapers were poorly programmed, indeed, and it's been fixed. No more repetitive Lemberg-Cracow or Stanislow-Cracow news...

Re: Galicia, map to test

Yeah, no worries. I gather server space is always a concern... By the way, did you like the touch of a historical map in the package? I know it's a rather big image, but I just love it. I found that and MUCH MORE on http://www.davidrumsey.com/view.html - which has now become my favorite pet-site in ...

Over the Carpathes

Another project... This scenario will be called "Over the Carpathes", but during all of its development phase to this point it has been named Austro-Hungarian Galicia (that's in my mind :-) ). During research for the now published Galicia1870 scenario, I stumbled across this other region c...

Re: Galicia, map to test

So, this is it. Beta period is over. I have made it a little bit harder again, just a notch easier than the first version and it is good to go. I am happy with the coloring (as happy as I would ever be, being the poor paint splasher that I am). There are no standing bugs, complications or details to...

Changing height on a pre-made map

I have just found out that you should not lay pre-made track on a map, and then go back and review heights... There is an order to these things, and someone forgot to tell me. ih ih ih Bridges become funny ... : funny_height_1.gif and stations acquire to ability to hover... ^**lylgh funny_height_2.j...

Re: sao miguel

Belb, you have sweated your share with on the island! I have seen profitable industries vanish before, although it is rare. I feel your grief - that scenario is ****** ****** hard(and it was supposed to be an easy-haul-cargo-for-beginners).

Re: Galicia, map to test

That's not "mine" - that's real-life existent railways as we speak. There are plans and/or work in place already for two new routes, they will both be electrified tracks for high speed trains: A Coruna-Valença (part of a main line that plunges deep south into Portugal) and Vigo-Astorga (pa...

Re: Galicia, map to test

I hear you Belb. I am also about to win Gold in a trial game of this scenario easily - which makes 2 of us. What do the other folks have to say? Moggie, Ray, others? There's a few things that can be done to increase the level of difficulty.. namely, making track just an inch more expensive, reduce f...

Re: Galicia, map to test

:salute: Absolutely well spotted! I shifted the city of Bragança slightly westwards, closer to real location - this included deleting the old city#80. Then that slot was taken by Noya, one of the few small towns I added later. Note that Gold requires Baiona to Braga and Ourense to Bragança (Braga an...

Re: Galicia, map to test

Final push for a decent paint job and here it is. A proper Release Candidate. I think everything, absolutely everything, works as expected now. Please comment on paint job and also report your LOSS/BRONZE/SILVER/GOLD story. It's your comments that keep me creating. Spending a lot of time in the edit...

Re: Koristan - Beta

I don't see any problem with shifting the game interval a couple of years forward. As it is it gets a little strange and confusing (rather than confusing, maybe clumsy would be a better word, actually). As for the recyclable logs, adding a specific warehouse would make it harder to recycle but not i...

Re: Galicia, map to test

I also gave it two tries yesterday, attempting alternative starts to the ones I had used before (following Moggie's report on "balsing royally" : :-) Both were on expert level and on both I failed to get any medal. I'd sum up from this experiment that you really need to find the best start...

Re: Koristan - Beta

Gave it a couple of tries on expert In the first two attempts, consecutive monsoons trashed me. Third game had a more clement weather and managed to do well, with a mix of industry and expansion. Connected to Pani Paat right from start to get the no-stop-for-oil bonus, which is very handy. I also se...

Re: West Africa - late XXth century to present times

Thanks for the kind review joost. As for tire factories. If I allow tire factories, then rubber wouldn't be such an export for countries like Liberia, Sierra Leone or Cote d'Ivoire... and that's the economic reality. This scenario is strictly real (or as real as possible for a rrt3 1.05 simulation) ...

Re: Galicia, map to test

Howdy all This is indeed a 1.05 map. I have long decided to strictly create 1.05 maps - as I have a big to huge problem with people hauling at a loss. That among other issues with 1.06 keep me to 1.05. My only sorrow is that I can't program placing warehouses and ports in the middle of a game, but.....

Re: sao miguel

Good to know you did better this time and that you did re-try, Belb. As for your problem with PNW, I have come to realize that the goal is very very difficult. While the target values are not astronomical, the fact that the economy works differently than in all RRT3 scenarios makes it very difficult...

Re: New Map: Egypt 1854-1904

Hi! Just replayed this today. Gave it thought and concentration aiming at Gold on Hard Difficulty (reading this thread shows how hard it is). My review goes pretty much under the same lines as Belb's. Finished Silver - couldn't get enough money to buy into Arabia and couldn't access enough Oil to ma...
