Railroad Pictures Unread post

My sister-in-law got me a calendar with pictures by Edward Hopper, one of my favourite artists. Some of them are railroad-related so I thought I would share them with you.

Click on picture to enlarge.<br />This is actually called &quot;Automat&quot; but I'm convinced it's a railway station cafe.

Grandma Ruth, I was looking on youtube for a video of 'Town Without Pity' by Gene Vincent and found this.

Town Without Pity - The Paintings Of Edward Hopper

Thought you might like to look at it.
All folks as come to Sussex must follow Sussex wyas,
And when they've larned to know us well
There's no place else they'd wish to dwell in all their blessed days.
There ant no place like Sussex until you goes Above,
But Sussex will be Sussex, and Sussex won't be druv.

Wouldn't that be Gene Pitney?

Very nice indeed. I've never heard that song before but it certainly fits the pictures. Thanks!

Beautiful interaction between individuals and their environment. Just like in Nighthawks ;-)

My pleasure! :salute: (0!!0)
One of my favorite songs when I was a kid.
Did you ever see the movie that used that song for it's theme song. It stared Kirk Douglas. It was about some service men stationed in Germany during WW II that raped a German girl.

Ruth - Town Without Pity was a song released in 1961 here in the states.

"It isn't very pretty what a town without pity can do"

I showed the video to my husband and he remembered the song and the film. 'Course he is some years older than me! ;-)
