1900 Beta Unread post

This scenario is based off the scenario "American Rails" by MrScott. Like it, it requires patch 1.05, Coast to Coast, and Mr Scott's logo pack which can be downloaded here: http://hawkdawg.com/rrt/rrt3/Xtras/Logos.htm

There are 15 historical railroads that are made to start in their home region, but are giving access to all territories after making their first connection. You cannot start a railroad, you have to buy into one of these companies to run a business. It isn't too hard, as you have some extra cash to balance out the AIs' chairmanships. That said, you can get Gold without running a railroad if you wish to attempt it.

I've scripted 4 distinct timelines the country can go down depending on the events of the game and revolving around the World Wars. Be careful of the Great Depression. There's almost always one or two companies that go under during it, make sure it's not you or companies you've invested in.

Greatest personal net worth gives bronze. Add in $50 million or $100 million for silver or gold, respectively. There is also a hidden victory and defeat.

Overall, it's harder than the original scenario, but not impossible. It also has some replayability from different paths the scenario can take and strategies you can use.

Played this with the investment option, all shares bought out in 1923, debt limit of roughly $8M, after that it was just fast forward to a Gold Medal. Only the AI with industry survived, with one exception which was fast sinking. Ended the game with 8 out of the 16 original companies. The rising steam fuel and maintenance costs and their erratic routing behavior kill off their chances for consistent profits. Would consider giving them some help with debt incurred from a new build since they aren't smart about expansion, they just try to go somewhere new.

The trick is in how aggressive you are with stock market. Because the AI aren't bright their growth outlook is a lot less than the human players so the key is in getting the right expectations on price growth.
