That's a bummer, because the Big Boy and the Challenger are beautiful in person.

Re: Age Of Steam IV-Blue Streak For Your Comment and Review
I changed my strategy and saved up for building a few warehouses, and now the money is working and rolling in. I was able to get the first city for free and am now planning on the second city. Thank you!!

Re: Age Of Steam IV-Blue Streak For Your Comment and Review
I must be a terrible player, because I cannot succeed at this map in 3 tries. Twice on hard, and once on normal. When the first challenge comes, I am only able to have enough cash to build 6 trains. The first challenge needs 50 loads, and I can get about 30. Then I have to finance and the -$500k hit...

I thought I downloaded updates to those problems here: http://hawkdawg.com/rrt/rrt3/Xtras/Buil ... ctures.htm
But I don't see one for the construction firm, and I don't remember where I got it.

Re: General management strategies
Do you really run full 8-car trains in the 1800's scenarios? I've found the trains are severely lacking in torque and pulling power, and that causes them to run slower. Not to mention if you're taking all the available loads in one train, there's nothing left for other trains, or for that train when...

You arent kidding Blackhawk. I found another game online to play a few years ago, yet here I am again, still playing RRT3 every so often.

Big Boy 4014
Hey all, I came back for a bit to download some new RRT3 maps, and I thought I would share these pics of the Big Boy 4014 I took when UP moved it from the museum it was on display, to their yard before shipping it up to Wyoming for refurbishment.

This will probably fall under "city-slicker" English, but "just any 'ol cargo" and "just any 'ol freight" should have the apostrophe like this: ol'. The apostrophe goes in place of the letter you're replacing.

Re: Any similar games to Railroad Tycooon ?
No, I remembered in the middle of the night - it's Theme Hospital. There was a Theme Park (which I suppose must have been the first, the name makes sense at least!) and probably I think there were other "Theme" things as well. Yes, Theme Hospital! That was the game that had my interest be...

Re: Menus, Menus Everywhere
My preference is for the new menu with pop up sub menus. It saves having to open full pages to navigate through the different areas. I think it might encourage folks to wander more and find new things because having menus "blossom" open instead of having to actually open a page lets you s...

Snopes http://www.snopes.com/autos/hazards/static.asp Another one of those lets distort the truth and scare people messages. The Mythbusters TV show did a whole story on this topic a few years ago. Nothing they tried created a spark from a cell phone. However, static electricity from getting in and...

Re: Google and the NSA
According to google's/huffington post's election fund raising donor search, (not sure how reliable it is) ~90% of the employee donations from Google went to Dems, Yahoo employees - 94% to dems, Ask.com donations 100% to dems and 80% of microsoft went to dems. I figured the big internet companies wo...

I refuse to use Google because they give 98% of their political donations to democratic candidates.

Re: Why are soldiers allowed to drink on duty?
Its a well-known fact that soldiers on leave, especially in the Navy, like to frequent bars. But on the barracks? Yeah, you're right. We'd have to ask the original programmers, and I dont think they're around any more.

Re: Problem with ports, warehouses, and passenger buildings
This is a known bug with the 1.06 version. When you start a new compaign scenerio under version 1.06, it allows you to build all the ports/warehouses by default. It also removes the ability to build hotels, post offices, restaurants, and taverns. It doesnt happen under scenerios you have saved from ...
