How do I get rid of these numbers on the map? Unread post

I was playing a scenario and must have accidentally hit some keys on the keyboard because I all of a sudden got a bunch of numbers showing up on the map (and any other map I bring up after restarting the program). They change from ")" at far distance view to "4" when I zoom in to an individual feature, so I think they are references to which DDS model is being used to display the feature (trains, buildings, track-ends, etc).

Does anyone know how to turn them off? I've tried pressing every key on the keybord, including Shift-, Ctrl-, and Alt- value, but I can't get them to go away.

Yup. Those are LOD's for the game assets. There's a hotkey for turning it on and off. Can't remember which one, but it's in the Settings > Hotkeys list. Just look for where it says "LOD".

Hi Wolverine - long time no hear! I have to tell you that you provided me with the answer to a quiz question the other day about American football. I knew the Wolverines had something to do with Michigan only because of you! ::!**!

Milo added some shortcuts when making 1.06. I believe some of these are from the debug mode. As Gumboots said they are in the Hotkeys list. I wrote them out since I didn't find them with a quick search:

1.06 Hotkeys

Code: Select all

Load World Model CTRL+1
Load Locomotive Model CTRL+2
Load Building Model CTRL+3
Toggle CPU Info CTRL+4
Toggle Video Info CTRL+5
Toggle Audio Info CTRL+6
Decrease LOD Level SHIFT+F2
Increase LOD Level SHIFT+F3
Decrease Detail Level CTRL+F2
Increase Detail Level CTRL+F3
Toggle Detailed Framerate Keypad /

Code: Select all

Weather - Start Storm SHIFT+W
Lightning Strike SHIFT+L
Add Geese CTRL+G
Add Plane CTRL+P
Increment Time of Day Keypad +
Decrement Time of Day Keypad -
Toggle L.O.D. Display Keypad *

You need the last one: Keypad *
It doesn't matter if you have Number Lock on or off. :-)

Come to think of it, the LOD numbers don't behave like this. They go from 4* when zoomed out, to 0 when zoomed in.

*Usually 4, but it depends on how many LOD's that model has. For instance, some custom locos have only one, so they always display 0 (numbering is normal hex/geek stuff, which starts at zero).

Thanks Gumboots. You're right, they go from "0" close-up to "4" at distance. Keypad "*" got rid of 'em.
Also I saw a noticed where you figured out heightmap coding in the GMP files...great work. I hope to be able to use it at some point.

Glad to see you back too Ruth. You were gone for a while before I got busy with other life responsibilities and had to cut back on my involvement here.

I think there is a straightforward menu to hide/display these in DEBUG mode, right ?

You don't need debug mode. It's just a standard hotkey: numpad * :)

I always run under debug mode, it helps doing various things.
