Do you think a guide book on how to write RT3 events would be of help?
I'm facing some 'medical recovery' indoors time in December and would happily fill the time by writing a guide - besides playing some RT3.
Any feedback would be appreciated.

IMHO - Most assuredly.
What medical procedure are you having to recover from?

Re: Guide on how to write RT3 events
Wow! Sounds like there is an interest in the guide. ....and so many offers to translate it! I was thinking about using screenshots to show how to set up different events. The text shown in the screenshots will be in English since this is the language version of RT3 that I have.
I was off the forum for several days and was suprised by the number of positive responses. I should be able to get this done before the end of the year.

Great!
If you - hawk - are using screen shots that means that my French RT3 would translate it. Right?

Re: Guide on how to write RT3 events
So here is an example of what I'm thinking it will look like.
It will focus on 25 common events and show, through a screenshot, how to 'write' each event.
A translator will not be able to change the English on the screenshot.
The English text, yes. The screenshot image, no.
Any ideas?

Re: Guide on how to write RT3 events
Perhaps we could all help by suggesting events to help out. I'll certainly type out some of the complicated events I've created so you can include them, stuff like seasonal things, etc.
Re: Guide on how to write RT3 events
Ned, I'd be more than glad to include any events your suggest, even your 'complicated' ones.
I'm going with the assumption that the person reading the guide know very little to nothing about writing events.....so I'm trying to explain every step. I'm using screenshots to show the event followed with some text explaining the event.
Here is a list of the events that I have outlined to cover.
1. Setup Economy
2. Setup Trains
3. Setup Company
4. Setup Player
5. Territory access granted (2 examples)
6. Territory access denied (3 examples)
7. Medals
8. Status
9. AI Boost
10. Choice
11. After A Choice
12. Game Year-Month & Newspaper
13. City &/or Territory Connections
14. Revenue From/To a Territory (2 examples)
15. Territory Conditions
16. Haul Count (2 examples)
17. Track Count (2 examples)
18. Limited Track (2 examples)
19. Destroy
20. Confiscate
21. Random
22. Add A Building To A Map
23. Add/Remove A Locomotive
24. Company ID
25. Variable (3 examples)
If you are interested in helping, I'd be glad to send some draft 'pieces' to you by PM.

I think it's great what you have there, unfortunately I don't have the time to review the drafts and comment on them, but I would love to get them.OilCan wrote:Ned, I'd be more than glad to include any events your suggest, even your 'complicated' ones.

You are going to have three examples of using variables. What were you planning on for examples, perhaps more can be suggested. I would also suggest having a separate category for Start ...i.e. setting up things at the start of the scenario.
Also, maybe we should start a new topic in the section for discussion since I think the poll has been answered with a resounding yes. :) I started a discussion here. : viewtopic.php?f=66&t=3362
