Website Down

What happened this morning? I stopped by and no website or forum? That was about 10:00 AM EST.
I checked downforeveryoneorjustme.com and it confirmed.
Same thing with the test forum.

Glad to see it was just temporary.

No idea. I missed it. Could have been a server glitch, or a bit of maintenance.

OK! I think it was down for about an hour, maybe more.

I guess that was in the middle of the night for you.

Wouldn't worry about it. The database is backed up daily, and I have backup copies of all files. Even if the server throws a wobbly (which is unlikely) the site could still be restored.

I'm 16 hours ahead of you, so yup 10.00 am your time is early hours of the morning for me.

Checked in this morning and got an error message page, saying there were too many connections. Obviously fine now. I think we may have been walloped by a horde of spiders. It has been happening recently to other phpBB sites. Usually Chinese spiders. They tend to index in hordes, without regard to the stability of the site they're visiting, but they don't cause any actual harm apart from a transient DDOS. They'll probably go hassle someone else now.
